Trent Dabbs is a true, musical renaissance man. While The Optimist is the Mississippi
native's tenth solo record in 12 years, that's only one road on his artistic map. He is also half of Sugar + the Hi-Lows with Amy Stroup; co-founder of the Ten Out of Tenn artists' collective and Ready Set Records; a co-writer for Ingrid Michaelson's Top 40 hit, “Girls Chase Boys” and a writer/co-producer for developing acts like Young Summer. For Dabbs, collaboration is what music is all about and for this album he recruited one of his favorite songwriters in town, Daniel Tashian. The resulting collaboration is a collection of delicately lush and finely tuned acoustic pop songs with Dabbs' maturity and sophistication that has evolved but never wavered from album to album.
